Why is exercise important and what is the right amount?

Benefits of Exercise:

Physical Health

Regular exercise is an integral part of our lives. It strengthens your muscles, improves cardiovascular health, and enhances bone density. From reducing the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity, to boosting our immune system, exercise is truly beneficial for our bodies in so many ways.

Mental Health

Exercise is wonderful for mental health and depression because exercise produces endorphins, these natural mood-lifters flood your body during exercise, battling stress, anxiety, and depression. I mean, how amazing is that?

Quality Sleep

Did you know that exercise can make your sleep better? Engaging in regular physical activity promotes better sleep patterns, helping you drift to sleep with ease and wake up refreshed. So, stop counting sheep and start moving your body!

What is the right amount?:

So, now that we know all the benefits of exercise…how much is too much, and how little is too little?

There's no one-size-fits-all answer. The right amount of exercise varies from person to person based on factors like age, fitness level, and health conditions. The World Health Organization recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity per week, spread across multiple days. This could include things like walking, swimming, cycling, hiking, running or dancing. Incorporating strength training exercises twice a week can work wonders for your muscle tone and overall strength. These exercises could involve lifting weights, resistance bands, or even using your body weight for resistance through activities like push-ups and squats. But remember, adequate rest and recovery are just as important as exercise itself. Overtraining can lead to burnout, injuries, and other health issues. Make sure to include rest days in your routine and prioritize sleep. And most importantly listen to your body. Your body is always communicating with you. Pay attention to how you feel during and after exercise. If you're always tired or experiencing pain, it's a sign to dial things back. Likewise, if you're breezing through workouts without breaking a sweat, it might be time to up the intensity.

In a world overflowing with fad diets and quick-fix solutions, exercise is the genuine way to overall health and well-being. But remember, there's no universal formula for the right amount of exercise. It's a personalized journey that requires you to listen to your body and respect your limits. So, do what makes you feel happy, whether that’s a long hike, a walk through the park or dancing at home with the music full blast – your body and mind will thank you for years to come.

HEY, I’M MARINA

I had to go through many ups and downs to heal. It took me a long time to get there, it was a process, it didn't happen overnight. I had to learn that caffeine was a big 'no no' in my body and was the cause of a lot of my issues. I had to learn to put myself first and create self-love before I could finally heal. It really was a combination of mind, body and spirit that really helped me heal. And that's what I teach. I want you to heal in every way! I want you to feel the best you've ever felt! I want you to have all the things that you want in your life! And I want you to heal, so you can live the life of your dreams! Welcome to yourself! I greet you where you are!
